Bob & Weave 2 (DL#1BL)


Brendon Laluz First Devlog 

Main level designer for Bob and Weave 2. 

First level core is complete, we are working on assets to give it a theme that we all spoke about and agreed on. We are trying figuring out how to tell narrative through game play. Narrative isn't the most important thing in this game, we really want to focus on the atmosphere around you, game play, and music is an important part of the game. Two people on the team are designing characters and rigging them to be able to play in the game. 

First level for our game is mainly a tutorial teaching you the core mechanics of the game and what things you can encounter in other future levels. There is a little of everything in the first level but it is controlled, we just want to inform the player on what things to expect. Its a fairly easy level.

Second level as for right now in our development is an arena level. What I envision for this level is the player trying to grab  "keys" to unlock "doors" as they are trying to avoid everything in their path to make it out as quickly as possible and survive the horde of enemies trying to kill them. 

Third level is going to be a blackout level. The only thing visible is going to be the player, where the course platform is ending and the enemies. The player will be glowing and emitting light so they can see their surroundings as it approaches them. Still undecided whether to make the player have a fast blinking light or slow blinking light or a steady light source. We are also using audio visualization in this level for sure, we aren't sure about the other levels having audio visualization in them yet. 

As for a fourth level there is not anything planned yet for it or if there even is going to be a forth level. It'll have to be something to discuss with team mates and see what comes up. 

We are planning to add ramps to some levels and pick up objects to make the player go faster and slower depending on the environment and different obstacles the player comes across. There is still a lot of planning to do as we develop this game but so far its going good.
